Archaeology Notes

NF87NE 25 c. 890 773.

A stone sinker, found on Newton farm was exhibited in Glasgow in 1888, on loan from Mrs McNeil.

International Exhibition, Glasgow 1888.

Mrs McNeil's collection subsequently passed to Mr H H Mackenzie, fact or of the North Uist estates, whose collection was donated to the Royal Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (RMS, formerly the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland [NMAS]) in 1972. How ever, this sinker was not with the material given to the museum. (But see NF86NW 24.)

J Close-Brooks and S Maxwell 1975.
