Archaeology Notes

NO12SW 284 1180 2478

Four anti-tank blocks and the visible remains of at least one other are situated on the edge of the River Tay at the N end of the North Inch. Measuring approximately 4ft square and 3ft high, they have been constructed using concrete bags soaked in water and left to dry with a smooth concrete outer skin added. The marks of the original sacking survive.

These features are under water for much of the time, however, they are illustrated on a contemporary postcard of 1943 held in the Perth Museum.

Information from Mark Hall, Human History Officer, Perth Museum & Art Gallery, 22 November 1996.

Situated on the river bank at North Inch by the golf course. A single line of concrete anti-tank blocks, built out of concrete bags, they have been surmounted with caps.
