Irving (Glasgow, Annandale). Although this church does not appear in any valuation rolls of the diocese of Glasgow, it was, according to Chalmers following the Old Statistical Account, an independent parish within the patronage of Irving of that Ilk. No record evidence has been found to support this assertion.

Listed as church (possible).

Publication Account (2010)
Duncan Adamson and Sheila Adamson, 'Kirpatrick Fleming: On the Borders of History', concluded that the parish of Irving has never existed.
'There is no mention of Irving in the 1609 Act, nor in any medieval source. Nor is there any archaeological evidence of an abandoned church or graveyard.'
Publication Account (2015)
'It is thus apparent that there are no contemporary records to justify the claim first made in 1794 that there had once been a parish of Irving in Dumfriesshire. Many subsequent writers have accepted this claim uncritically, and several have added minor embellishments.'
Irvine, James
'The Alleged Parish of Irving, Dumfriesshire'
Dumfriesshire and Galloway Natural History and Antiquarian Society, Volume 89
Note (21 September 2016)
Research has established that there is no documentary or archaeological evidence to support the statement in the OSA, 1794, that Irving Parish, or its church, existed.
Classification changed from 'CHURCH (POSSIBLE) to 'NO CLASS'.
