This railway junction was opened on 18 July 1848 and later incorporated into the North British Rly, and remains in regular use. It became a junction on 4 May 1890 at the opening of the Bridge of Earn to Mawcarse Junction ('Glenfarg line') section of the North British Rly, and ceased to be a junction when that section closed on 5 January 1970.
