Architectural Notes
Renfrew, Inchinnan Road, Rolling Lift Bridge Over the White Cart. This Scherzer rolling lift bridge was designed and built by Sir William Arrol & Co Ltd, Engineers & Contractors, Glasgow and was completed in 1923/4.The Main Control Cabin contains the electrically driven lifting mechanism [driven by a 3-phase 400 volt 50 horse-power induction motor made by Metropolitan Vickers of Manchester and Sheffield, and the electrical equipment by 'I Granic of London, Bedford'. There is the Out-house which houses the back-up diesel-powered generator situated in basement, showing (right) Brush of Loughborough 3-phase 400 volt generator (made in 1948), driven by engine made by AEC of Southall
