Motor Vessel FINLANDE, fish carrier, 750 ton, of Port Talbot, master not known. Bound from Iceland to Hull. Lost 18 Dec 1944, 7.20pm. On point, north entrance to Peterhead Harbour, 4 miles from Buchan Ness Lighthouse. Wind south west moderate, cloudy. Swell moderating after gale of previous day. Cause not ascertained. 36 persons saved. Cargo fish.

The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. The location of North Head cannot be established from the available map evidence, but the name presumably applies to one of the headlands around NK 13 46.
