Archaeological Notes
NS20NE 25 c. 285 058
About 1875 a logboat, which does not appear to survive, was discovered by Macfadzean during drainage operations on Lochspouts farm. The finder noted that it 'appeared small' and was 'roughly comparable' with the 'ruder forms' of the then-published examples from the River Clyde.
The exact location of the discovery and its relationship to the better-known crannog of the same name (NS20NE 8) were not recorded.
The area is one of undulating clayland and small lochs at an altitude of about 160m OD.
R Munro 1882; R J C Mowat 1996.
