(Classified as steam trawler: registration number cited as H 15, former name as Benella, and date of loss cited as 29 March 1969). James Barrie: this vessel stranded on Lowther Skerry [Louther Skerry: ND 479 772]: all gone, but sank under tow in Hoxa Sound [Sound of Hoxa]. [Capt.] Brocklesby.
Registration: Hull. Built 1949. 665grt. Length: 54m. Beam: 9m.

A4293 1 cage lamp: from seabed.
(No accurate location cited).
NMRS, MS/829/35.

This wreck is substantially intact and lies on its starboard side in about 43m depth of water, across the tide, and with the bow offshore. Surviving features include the starboard anchor, masts, A-frame (aft), fishing blocks and winch; the top of the steam engine is also visible. The propellor has been salvaged and the rudder lies on the seabed.
The indicated location falls 0.2nm SW of the nearest point of Hoxa Head and in a charted depth of about 35m; no seabed type is indicated nearby. The wreck is charted as swept to 22mm clearance.
