Activities

Standing Building Recording (26 March 2014 - 1 July 2014)

NJ 9440 0466 and NK 1259 4458 Following the closure of HMP Aberdeen and HMP Peterhead in 2014, a review of archived materials (to Level 2 standing building survey standard) was undertaken, 26 March – 1 July 2014. The survey included desk-based research with particular reference to drawings and photographs held by the Scottish Prison Service, RCAHMS and Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums. The work has established a broad timeline and phasing for both prisons, and also acts as a summary of the extensive archive of architectural drawings, documents and photographs relating to the two prisons.
