The Southern section of Lady Lawson's Street was formed by widening the earlier Lady Lawson's Wynd on its East side. Curiously enough, the Wynd is not shown on 'Rothiemay' 1647 but appears on 'Roy' 1753, gaining its importance, no doubt, when the PORTSBURGH was founded in 1649.
