NO 177 027 to NT 180 990 Monitoring of the excavation of trenches for new pipelines to the W and S of Scotlandwell revealed that the natural sand was very badly plough-damaged and little or no archaeological material survived. The only find of any significance was a small Neolithic axehead which was found close to the site of a previous similar discovery. Nothing relating to either of the medieval hospitals of Scotlandwell or Portmoak was recovered.
