Standing Building Recording (6 September 2018)
NT 25625 74365 A historic building survey and watching brief were undertaken, 6 September 2017, at 25 Dublin Street Lane South (behind 19 Dublin Street) in advance of the building’s demolition and development work. Maps of the area indicate that the small two-bay building was constructed in the early 19th century, sometime after the tenement at 19 Dublin Street. The plot behind the house was then expanded (1914-33), to cover the whole area; although this was demolished in the later 20th century, leaving the building standing. At least three building phases were noted within the current building, including a basement store room in the rear garden of 19 Dublin Street with several bricked-up openings. Several sandstone foundation walls, associated with the 19th-century building and at least 1m of infilling cellarage deposits were recorded during the watching brief.
