NS37SW 56 311 729

Site recorded during a desk-based and field survey undertaken as part of Scottish Power's Inverclyde overhead transmission line proposals. The survey examined an extensive baseline study area, and then narrow corridors (50m or 100m wide) centred along the proposed routes of the transmission lines.

Activities

Field Visit (November 2012)

As part of a cultural heritage statement CFA Archaeology Ltd undertook field survey to assess the present baseline condition of the known archaeology and heritage features identified through a desk-based assessment as well as to identify any further features of historic environment interest not detected from the deskbased assessment; as well as areas with the potential to contain currently unrecorded buried archaeological remains.

Field survey did not find any of the irregularly shaped mounds previously noted in the record. From the description provided it would appear these were either small field clearance cairns or modern spoil heaps
