Archaeology Notes

NS75SE 35 7747 5333.

Aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 1995) has revealed the cropmarks of parts of a possible settlement and enclosure on the flood plain of the River Clyde, 240m N of Upper Carbarns farmsteading. Half of the settlement is visible, and is probably circular in shape, measuring approximately 40m in diameter, with a possible entrance on the SW side. A second smaller circular enclosure, visible as two arcs of ditches, intersects the NW side of the settlement.

Information from RCAHMS (KB) 17 June 1999
