NH 780 820 (centre) An archaeological watching brief was conducted within the suspected bounds of the medieval burgh of Tain, on groundworks undertaken during the replacement of the water main system. Most of the remains noted relate to services established within the last two centuries, of which an extensive network of stone-built culverts was the most significant. A survey of the main culverts running under the streets of Tain has already been conducted by North of Scotland Water Authority.
