Shanghai House, 31 Main Street, c.1850. Suitably trim and neat for Captain Thomson, clipper master. Straightforward two-storey, three-window layout, harled with margins and granite dressings. Door unusual, flanked by panels of plain ashlar enclosed in wide architrave. Glazing original.

Taken from "Aberdeenshire: Donside and Strathbogie - An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Ian Shepherd, 2006. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
