Watching Brief (19 July 2017 - 17 January 2018)
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by AOC Archaeology at Dunoon Primary School, Dunoon between the 19th and 20th of July, the 14th
and 17th of August, the 23rd – 27th of November 2017 and the 17th of January 2018. The works were requested by Argyll and Bute Council with respect to the demolition of buildings and erection of temporary kitchens followed by the construction of a permanent structure adjacent to this.
During the initial works a series of walls were encountered relating to previous phases of the school buildings on site.

Project (2017 - 2019)
A series of archaeological work was undertaken by AOC Archaeology at Dunoon Primary School between 2017 and 2019. The works were requested by Argyll and Bute Council with respect to the demolition of buildings and erection of temporary kitchens followed by the construction of a permanent structure adjacent to this.
The first phase encountered a series of walls relating to previous phases of the school buildings; the second phase encountered a dry-stone wall which was thought to predate the construction of the school.

followed by the construction of a permanent structure adjacent to this.
During the final phase of the watching brief, a dry-stone wall was encountered, which probably pre-dates the construction of the school.
