Accessing Scotland's Past Project

The steading of Inchnacape is situated on the western slopes of Monadh a'Ghuithais. On the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map (1872) Inchnacape comprises two unroofed buildings, one of which is shown as having two internal compartments or rooms and an adjoining enclosure. However, by the early years of the twentieth century, the steading had been reoccupied and rebuilt. The 2nd edition 6-inch map (1903-5) shows two roofed buildings, one roofless structure and an enclosure. The 1972 Ordnance Survey 1:10,000 map of the same area shows one unroofed structure, three roofed buildings and three enclosures.
