Activities

Standing Building Recording (5 August 2020 - 7 August 2020)

A standing building survey was undertaken on 4 Atholl Crescent by Alder Archaeology between 5 August and 7 August 2020 in advance of internal

alterations to return the building to residential use.

The building is part of an A-listed late 18th-century crescent on the N edge of the historic burgh, facing the North Inch. For many years it was in use as professional offices, but preserves many features of its origins as a high status dwelling in what was a fashionable part of the growing Georgian city. This includes decorative plaster work, elegant doors and shutters, and ornate fireplaces.

No further work in connection with the present development is recommended.

Information from David Bowler (Alder Archaeology) 18 August 2020.
