Note (15 June 2017)

There are records of the arch being completed by October 1850, as documented in the 6th November 1850 edition of the Dundee Courier. There may be confusion as the architect, J T Rochead, wasn't paid until 1851 and the rest of the final debts were not settled until 1853. The arch was demolished between February and March 1964.
