World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (28 October 2013)

The drill hall was built in 1888 and lies behind a row of tenements. It was, in 1914, the HQ and base of Nos 1 and 2 Batteries, and Ammunition Column, 1st Lowland Brigade Royal Field Artillery.

The building was later used as the student union of Heriot-Watt University.

Project (March 2013 - September 2013)

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
