Archaeology Notes

NJ45SW 20 4275 5114.

(Location cited as NJ 428 512). Glen Keith Distillery, built 1958. A fine example of a mid 20th-century distillery with single kiln, maltings and stillhouse, all designed in the traditional idiom.

J R Hume 1977.

This distillery was built in 1957-60 by Chivas Brothers Ltd. Moss and Hume note that this was the first malt distillery established in Scotland after the late Victorian boom as well as having the first gas-fired still in Scotland (September 1970). A microprocessor was installed in 1980 to control the process.

M M Moss and J R Hume 1981.
