(NJ 8728 2875) Bronze Vessels found AD 1867 (NAT)

OS 6" map, (1959)

Workmen found two bronze vessels while digging near Tolquhon Castle (NJ82NE 1.00) in March 1867. One, 6 1/2ins long by 3ins broad, had the handle and spout broken off and was inscribed in Old English 'Neens water and Prendesdeleewe'. The other, apparently corroded, was 8ins long by 4ins broad.

Name Book 1868.

No further information.

Visited by OS (RL) 5 April 1972.

The location indicated falls on a moderate WNW-facing slope at an altitude of 95m OD.

The present whereabouts of two bronze vessels, which were found in 1867, are not known.
