OS 25" map, (1926).
The cathedral precincts were enclosed by a high stone wall with four 'ports' or gates. The Chaplain's Port, 'C' was erected c 1532 and stood until at least 1725, 'Cluny's Port', 'B', stood until the close of the 18th century ; the unnamed port, 'D', was erected c 1429 but no trace remains of any of them, or of the wall.
