Archaeological Notes
NJ90NW 9.07 9395 0882
A fine Romanesque cross-head (for photograph, see plate XV, A, B) has been housed in St Machar's Cathedral since 1909. It was probably found some time after 1825, but there is no information regarding its exact provenance. Traces of earth on its surface indicate that it may have been excavated. It is most probable that it is the head of a standing cross, possibly the sanctuary cross noted on NJ90NW 9.06.
