The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative; that of the Riddle Skerries cannot be established from the available map evidence. The name presumably applies to some or all of the numerous offshore skerries around the prominent but unnamed headland upon which stand Old Slains Castle (NK03SE 2) and Slains Castle (NK13NW 1), at NK 0532 3000 and NK1015 3610 respectively.
