Publication Account (1998)

Nos 228- 230 High Street is a three-storey tenement building, typical of the mid eighteenth century, although its original ashlar dressings would have been more prominent before its harling was removed in the 1930s. The pend entrance has a concrete lintel, but otherwise the building retains much of its original character, as a three-bay tenement with an outer stair, now a bay, on its left.

Information from ‘Historic Dalkeith: The Archaeological Implications of Development’ (1998).
