World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (28 October 2013)

The drill hall in Armadale is marked on the 3rd epoch OS map of the area (surveyed 1913). What survives is a small hall with the long elevation parallel to the street. There are two dormers on the street and the rear elevation. The ground floor to the street is obscured by what are probably more recent flat-roofed extensions. A vehicle door has been slapped through the visible gable.

In 1914 the hall was base for "C" Company, 10th [Cyclist] Battalion, Royal Scots.

It was bought by the Roman Catholic church and was used as a church until 1974 when a new church on Wotherspoon Crescent opened.

The building has been shortened with the removal of the E end of the former drill hall after the publication of the 4th epoch OS 6-inch map.
