Stones [NAT]

OS 1:10,000 map, 1991.

Two granite boundary stones are situated about 20m apart on the summit of Broad Hill, Aberdeen. Roughly square in section, the eastern stone measures 0.32m by 0.29m and 0.3m in height; on its S face it bears the incised letter R, and on its N face the letters ND. The flat top of the stone bears an incised line, which indicates the line of the march running E and W. The western stone measures 0.31m square in section and 0.28m in height. There is an incised letter B on its S face and the letters ND on the N. Like the other stone, it bears an incised line running E and W across its flat top.

The stones are depicted on the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet lxxv; 1902, sheet lxxv.SE), and the modern 1:10,000 map (1991).
