7 Royal Terrace, c.1860

Two-storey villa with projecting bay and Doric-balustraded porch, heavily quoined bay to the east surmounting an arched pend to coachhouse and service court behind. Nos 8-11 Royal Terrace (originally Bellevue Terrace) are well-mannered late-classical with stern porches. The retention in No 10 of the original window-glazing bars demonstrates the importance of these proportions. No 13, originally The Bield, is a Gothic cottage - i.e. pantiled with pointed windows, now sensitively extended to match the original masonry. Its large neighbour, Roseland Cottage, c.1820, is whinstone with freestone dressings with Gothic-glazing window patterns within the classical frame.
