Archaeology Notes

NJ71NE 103.07 7825 1917.

The canal on this map sheet is overlain for much of the route by the North of Scotland Railway opened in 1854 before the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet liv) was surveyed. This small bridge, possibly a footbridge, is situated just NE of the Inverurie Paper Mill on a section of residual canal labelled 'Aberdeen Canal (remains of) part of which may have been acting as a mill lade.
