The HERO, Dougall, from St. Kitt's to Glasgow, is on shore near Irvin's Bar [Irvine Bar].

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998).
The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Irvine Bar is not noted on the 1998 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map, but the River Garnock enters Irvine Bay at NS 303 380 and the bar may be envisaged as a Southeastwards extension of Ardeer Spit.
Irvine Harbour (NS33NW 40.00) is centred at NS 30668 38222.
