Accessing Scotland's Past Project

No 30 The Green is a two-storeyed house overlooking the north-east side of the grassy square that forms the heart of the village, and results from a plan laid out in the late eighteenth century.

The building is of late eighteenth-century date, but was altered during the nineteenth century. Originally, the upper floor was reached by an external staircase, which has since been removed. It is built of rubble masonry, but this is now concealed beneath the harling, and dressed stone has been used around the margins of the doors and windows. The roof is slated, and the chimney-stacks are of brick.
