Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Corbie Lea is a two-storeyed building which lies towards the south-west end of Main Street. It probably dates from the nineteenth century.

A photograph of the building taken in the 1970s shows that its masonry was then concealed beneath a layer of harling or roughcast. This contrasts with the smooth blocks of dressed stone used as corner stones or quoins, and as margins around the windows and the main front entrance. The roof is slated, and the chimney-stacks are of brick.
