Accessing Scotland's Past Project

No 9 Roxburgh Street is a large, four-storeyed building probably built in the early nineteenth century. Modern shop premises occupy the ground floor of the building, while the upper floors have been harled, with cement-rendered margins (the edges and corners of the building).

Sbc Note

The original building here was built in the 1680's and was three storeys and L-shaped. Masonry rubble was oldest domestic work surviving in the burgh. For a time this building was unsuitable for habitation. See card for detail (internal Scottish Borders Council reference).
