Called Caisteal a' Chonbhacain from a remarkable stone in the vicinity. The fort is oval in plan, with a long axis 95'6", and its wall, varying from 8'6" to 14'6" in thickness, is well-defined all round. The entrance is at the E end, where the wall is a little over 11' thick; in Pennant's day the doorway was still extant, "low and narrow, covered with a flag". Inside the fort, a wall, perhaps secondary, 4' thick, forms a chord from N-S except for a break immediately in front of the door (Rev J Stewart, Killin).

Caisteal Cona Bhacain, name confirmed (OS (WDJ) 10 September 1969) is a homestead typical of others in Glen Lyon (see NN44SE 7). It is situated on a low-lying natural shelf which has been artificially levelled, and consists of a stone wall composed of massive boulders up to two courses high and between 3.0m and 4.0m thick. Oval on plan, it measures overall 27.0m E-W by 20.0m with an indistinct entrance in the E.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
