The attribution of this loss to the Shetlands is incorrect. Hoy is in Orkney.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Per contra the above, the placing of this loss within Shetland is accepted. White Ness is is an elongated promontory on the W side of Shetland, while Whiteness Voe is the stretch of sheltered water to its E.
