Archaeology Notes

NJ26SW 454 22393 62285

NJ 2239 6228. This pillbox stands on the S side of the Burn of Tynock, next to a bridge and to the SE of Elgin East Station (NJ26SW 103). It is four-sided, with three gunloops and a covered door.

The pillbox is shown on two photographs held in the collections of the Imperial War Museum (H 4801 and H 4802). The pillbox has been disguised by painting it to look like a shed with a wooden post fence surrounding it along the roadside.
