Publication Account (1995)
Evidence of other early nineteenth-century buildings can still be seen, such as in the block of property at 51-59 High Street, although it reveals less ornamentation than the impressive banking structures. 263-265 High Street is a four-storeyed, five-windowed, painted ashlar-fronted building with a deep wood modillioned cornice of c 1800. 267-271 High Street is of similar date, but a plainer version of its neighbour. They all serve to illustrate the standing of the burgh in the early nineteenth century.
