When digging the foundations of the modern Aberdalgie House the remains of an extensive building were found, the walls being 5 or 6ft thick. It was thought locally to have been either a house called "Aberdalgie" or a castle called "Aberdalgie Castle", a former baronial residence of the Oliphant family.

Name Book 1860; OSA 1796.

Thought to be factor's house for Dupplin Estate. Not to be confused with manse.

Project (March 2013 - September 2013)

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
