Kirkwall, 24th Oct. `A vessel with a cargo of Baltic logs, was totally wrecked on the night of the 22nd inst., near Marwick Head: a name-board has been seen in one of the narrow creeks, marked `---ANE BERTHA, Memel¿: cargo washing on shore: about 800 or 900 logs likely to be saved.'

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The 'beacon' noted is presumably the Kitchener Memorial (HY22NW 66), which is situated at HY 2265 2517.
