Kirkaldy [Kirkcaldy], 4th Dec. 'The MARYS, Christie, from St. David's to Dundee, is wrecked at the entrance to this Frith [Firth of Forth]. Crew saved.'

(Classified as schooner: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as 3 December 1836). Marys: this vessel was wrecked on an outlying rock off Carr Rock [Carr Briggs]. Capt. Christie.

Registration: Dundee. Built 1832. 119 tons burthen. Length: 21m. Beam: 6m.

(Location of loss cited as N56 17.75 W2 34.0).

The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. Carr Rock is not noted as such on the 1999 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map, but may be tentatively equated with one of the Carr Brigs, off Fife Ness.
