The PEARL, Smith, from Sunderland to Campbeltown, was driven on shore near Banff, 16th inst., and was likely to become a wreck: two persons drowned.

(Classified as schooner, with cargo of coal: date of loss cited as 22 November 1847). Pearl: this vessel stranded in Banff Bay, at the mouth of the River Deveron. Capt. Smith.

Registration: Lossiemouth. Built 1840. 90 tons burthern.

(Location of loss cited as N57 40.17 W2 30.50).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The River Deveron enters Banff Bay at NJ 695 640.

The classification, cargo and location of loss cited by Whittaker remain unverified, but are accepted.
