Archaeology Notes

NH82NW 57 c. 8041 2774

For successor bridge (NH 80417 27741), see NH82NW 29.

There were apparently two predecessor bridges at or near this location. A grandiose inscription on the present bridge states that it replaced one built by Telford in 1833. This was not, however, a direct replacement; a two-span metal truss was recorded in the 1920's.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 24 March 2006.

G Nelson 1990.
