Archaeology Notes

NO12NE 29 c. 19 26.

On the western slopes of the Shandrie Hill beside what is said to have been an old bridle path leading from Fingask to Perth, is a grassy mound lying east and west in the shape of a grave. Formerly a large plain stone lay at the head of the grave but this was removed for use as a straining post for a wire fence. Traditionally associated with the burial of a plague victim, it is said that the grave has been opened, but so far as is known nothing has ever been found. (Shandrie Hill: name not on OS maps; Shanry is a farm at NO 203 268)

L Melville 1939.

The site of this mound cannot be located.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 6 April 1989.
