Archaeology Notes

NO12NW 35.01 NO 1161 3261 to NO 1061 2903 Lade

(Location cited as NO 105 297). Stormontfield Bleachworks, built about 1820. The three-storeyed building was destroyed by fire some years ago but a two-storey brick block, incorporating a dwelling house, still stands, together with some one-storey brick buildings. Other survivals are some long one-storey and attic cottages, and the single storey, 9-bay beetling mill, still with its low-breast paddlewheel. Now disused.
