(NO 1187 2367) Royal Arch Mason's Lodge 122 (NAT)

On the Site of The Parliament House (NR)

OS 1:500 map, Perth, (1863)

Parliament House stood on the site of the Royal Arch Mason Lodge Hall, and was supposed to have been erected in the 12th century. The main room was long occupied as an Episcopal Chapel and the other apartments by a number of poor families. It was taken down in 1818.

T H Marshall 1849.

Parliament House was reconstructed in 1796 and rebuilt as a Masonic Hall in 1851, using, it is said, the stones of the Parliament House.

P Baxter 1930.

Nearly six pounds weight of mostly oxidised silver coins, two of which are noted in the catalogue were presented in 1812 to Perth Museum by Mr Duncan. The coins were found by him in the foundation of the Parliament House, Perth, in that year. A penny of Alexander I (1107) and one of John Baliol (1293) are catalogued.

In 1821 a Mr Ogilvie presented a groat of James I, a penny of Edward II, a Danish silver coin, and another foreign coin, found on the same site. The 1850 catalogue notes only the John Baliol penny.
