NLO: Irvine [name: NS 325 395]
Irvine Bay [name: NS 295 378].

Irvine, 8th Mar. The EBENEZER (schr.), of Beaumaris, Parry, from Caernarvon to this place, with slates, in taking the bar today, was driven ashore on the North side, and, unless the weather moderate, is likely to prove a total wreck.
Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 14,019, London, Thursday March 10 1859.
NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 9652).

(Classified as schooner: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as 7 March 1859). Ebenezer: this vessel was wrecked on Irvine Bar.
Registration: Beaumaris. Built 1835. 54 tons register.
(Location of loss cited as N55 36.25 W4 42.0).
I G Whittaker 1998.

The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. Irvine Bar is not noted on the 1998 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map, but the River Garnock enters Irvine Bay at NS 303 380 and the bar may be envisaged as a Southeastwards extension of Ardeer Spit or Sands.
The extensive area of Irvine Harbour (NS33NW 40.00) is centred at NS 30668 38222.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 15 November 2006.
