Archaeology Notes

(NO 1984 4771) Stones (NR)

OS 6" map, Perthshire (1959)

Two stones, one of which (B) has been broken into three pieces. It is impossible to conjecture whether they were originally standing stones or part of a circle. There are no fragments on the ground indicative of other stones

F R Coles 1909

No trace in a pasture field. According to local information the stones were bulldozed away in the early 1950's and dumped in a "den" to the N.

Visited by OS (AA) 8 February 1974

NO 19627 47671 As indicated in NO14NE14. The remains of two stone circles and standing stones are to be found in a den to the N of the original sites. The measurements, descriptions and drawings supplied by Coles correspond with those found in the den. There are no other stones of similar stature in the area and as the dumped stones look quite incongruous this lends weight to them being monumental.

George Currie, 2006.
