Possibly on map sheet NK02NE.

(Classified as brig, in ballast: date of loss cited as 5 March 1818). Leander: this vessel was wrecked at Longside, near Slains Castle. Capt. Fish.

Registration: South Shields. 236 tons burthern.

(Location of loss cited as N57 21.00 W1 54.0).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The location cited by Whittaker is accepted, but that of Longside cannot be established from the available map evidence. Old Slains Castle (NK03SE 2) and Slains Castle (NK13NW 1) are at NK 0532 3000 and NK1015 3610 respectively.
